Let's start our activity!

I(EYE) MODEL

STEP 1: Let's make our first model by taking a few popsicle sticks.

Let's put two stick onto one another and clip it at one of the ends.

STEP 2: Place a bottle cap in the middle.

perfect!

STEP 3: Let's stick the bottle cap on it.

In case you're wondering how did we attach it, see the picture below.

Tape loop.

You guessed it right! We made a tape loop and stuck the cap to the model.

STEP 4: Take another popsicle sticks and attach it to the same clamping clip like this.

Insert it there!

Pretty simple!

STEP 5: Let's attach another bottle cap at the top-most popsicle stick, the same way we did before (keep a finger's space from the end of the stick).

Using a tape loop!

Does it look like this?
It should!

That was the I(eye) model we just made, try it out and note down how far does launch the asteroid.

Our work is not over! We need to make another model too.

SQUARE MODEL: DOUBLE CATAPULT!

STEP 6: Put the popsicle sticks in a square.

What's the square of 2?

Clip it as we did before and add the popsicle sticks after attaching the bottle caps.

Voila!

Let's put the asteroids and launch them in space!

Try this cool catapult with double asteroid launching capacity!

What? Want more?

Try out a triangular catapult and see if the two asteroids collide with each other while flying!

Triangular model: Collision catapult!

This time you'll have to work on your own. A hint to get you started is provided in the image below.

Here are some more designs for a catapult!
